PRE-SCHOOL: Oh boy, this was the fun stuff. But I'd gladly pay one dollar to someone who could tell me day-to-day what happens in their preschool life. What they played during play time, what they ate during snack time, what they read during story time. Pre-School usually prepares the child for their future in elementary school. However, the "homework" in pre-school was pretty much what every child wanted to do: color. No one wanted to learn, everyone just wanted to color. Now, if those teacher's mixed "coloring and learning", like my teacher did, then it looks like the kids gonna learn everything they'll need to to prepare them for Elementary school.
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL (Usually Kindergarten-5th Grade): Of course, the fun has to come to an end. But really, it doesn't. Moving from pre-school to kindergarten is like moving from one side of your room to the other; nothing's really different. In kindergarten, you still color and read and have fun, but there's more emphasis on learning this time. You read to conjugate words, you color to learn the color wheel, and you play games to learn sportsmanship. If only Joakim Noah played these games well, he wouldn't have flipped off the fan at that Chicago Bulls game. There' one major difference in moving from kindergarten to 1st grade; you end up going all day. Yeah, pre-school and kindergarten were only three-ish hours, 1st grade is the whole day? WHAT GIVES? Growing up, kids didn't care. They enjoyed school, and going all day was just adding on to the fun. 1st grade, you begin writing papers, begin learning how to do math, type and conjugate further. Let's face it, 1st grade, 2nd grade, and 3rd grade weren't any fun. In fact, they were all about as much fun as herpes. 4th grade, the fun level was to bare minimum. Now math, english, literature, and even music were the stress points. Oh my God, this was ridiculous. I've never learning more confusing math formulas, and I was only nine! I mean good God, chill out and let me take a breather for one damn week! 5th Grade is known to everyone as being like "the transition" year. This is where all the class parties, all the coloring, all the fuddy-duddy puzzles and lenient grading scale stops. Now, all the damn kids are gonna sit back, shut up, and pay attention to today's history lesson. I felt like I was in some sort of Nazi learning camp. It was and still is ridiculous...
JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL (Usually 6th-8th Grade): Leaving 5th grade and elementary school behind, kids were looking forward to something different. Better lunches, more lunch options, different forms of learning. It's basically what we got heading into the sixth grade. Unfortunately, that's not all we got. This is where 99.99% of kids stop being kids and start acting like jock douchebags or slutty drama queens. BOOM! The shit has indeed hit the fan. Not in junior high yet? Imagine this, imagine your an eleven-year-old boy/girl. Imagine you have a lunchbox with your favorite singer on it. Imagine your backpack is full of blank paper, empty folders, and sharpened pencils that your parents worked overtime to help pay for. Imagine in your lunchbox is your favorite sandwich with your favorite chips and a quarter to go and buy milk. Now, imagine you walk into the junior high school. Two goofy kids of indeterminate ethnic origin "table-top" you. You fall over, spilling your fresh school supplies all over the floor. Then, these two kids shout and call you an ethnic slur, take your supplies from you, stomp on your lunchbox, and leave. Your first vibe would be to hit them, but they're the bigger kids! Now, you're in junior high school. Three grades, and three years of absolute hell. Time wasted being beaten, taunted, and even disregarded by authority figures. Jr. High was pretty bad for me and alot of my friends at Clinton. I doubt it was really any better in any other place on the planet. What's worse is that the taunting didn't stop at the hallways, even in the classrooms! Whatever you did wrong, or awkard, you were taunted for. The bigger kids were loved more than the awkward kids haha. Quoting Alan Harper from Two and a Half Men: "Kids in Jr. High can be a little judgmental"...Couldn't have said it better myself...
HIGH SCHOOL (Freshman, Sophomore, Junior and Senior years): Now that you're battle-hardened from all the trauma received in Jr. High, it's time for high school. Four years that are just as bad, but you don't notice because your used to it. Hell, three years of absolute horror has hardened you into this "half man, half robotic drone" that just mocks everyone just as they mock you. They say cherish your high school days! I respectfully disagree, I say cherish only the days that you enjoyed yourself in. The days where there was a brawl, a lunch food poisoning scare, or a science-room fatality: Those were the good ol' days. Any other days aren't even worth remembering. Then as mentioned at the end of the note last time, you hit graduation. It's time to hit college. The big game! The show stopper! The nerd dropper! College was and still is, the most looked forward to four years in the history of America's crappy education program...
Now, because I haven't been to college yet, I'm not going to write about it. I'd be open to criticism for mis-writing or mis-attributing something. So, consider this an incomplete volume, but complete enough that it makes a good entry into my series haha. Thanks for reading, and keep looking for the updates!!
